NEDSRA’s team of full-time and part-time full-time professional staff is committed to "Putting People First," through educational advancement, training and certification. Our administrative and recreation staff hold degrees in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation & Park Administration, Special Education, Physical Education, Art Therapy, and other affiliated fields. Our staff’s impressive credentials include, certifications from National Council for Therapeutic Recreation and National Recreation and Park Association/Illinois Park and Recreation Association.

Rick PooleCPRP has 30 years of experience in Parks and Recreation. He joined the NEDSRA team in 2015 after most recently holding the position of Deputy Director for 12 years at the Lombard Park District. While there, some of Rick's accomplishments include being on the design team that constructed the Paradise Bay Water Park, building public support for a recent $5.9 million dollar park referendum, and overseeing the process of obtaining the prestigious National Recreation and Parks Association Gold Medal award. Rick holds a Master of Science degree in Managerial Leadership from National Louis University.

Jerry Barton, CTRS joined NEDSRA, as Superintendent of Recreation in November 2016. Jerry has a degree in Therapeutic Recreation from University of Iowa. Jerry began his professional career at NEDSRA as an intern and then as a Recreational Specialist, primarily responsible for the adapted sports area. After 5 years at NEDSRA, he worked at NSSRA for 8 years in various administrative and programming capacities. Jerry is happy to be returning to NEDSRA and we are excited to welcome him back to our team.

Karen Lesniak is the Director of Fund Development and has worked off and on at NEDSRA since 1983. She was the Nature Specialist, Coordinator of Outdoor Services, Coordinator of Support Services and Superintendent of Leisure Services, prior to becoming the Director of Fund Development. Karen graduated from Southern Illinois University with an emphasis in Therapeutic and Outdoor Recreation.

Lori Miller, CTRS, is the Manager of Program Development. She received her degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Illinois and has been with NEDSRA since 1989. Lori gained rehabilitation experience during her internship at Marianjoy, in addition to providing services for adolescents with head injuries at Greenery Rehabilitation in Boston, Massachusetts. Lori has served NEDSRA in a variety of roles over the years. In addition to the development of the seasonal brochure and offerings, she is in charge of welcoming all new families to NEDSRA, coordinates the annual Reach for the Stars event and is in charge of the development of the Annual Service Report.

Beth Corso is the Senior Recreation Coordinator and has been with NEDSRA since 1996. Beth attended Illinois State University, earning her degree in Therapeutic Recreation. Beth is passionate about Special Olympics, Challenger Baseball and adult travel trips. Beth was the United States Volleyball Coach for the 2003 Summer Special Olympics World Games in Ireland, where they won the gold medal.

Carrie Henry, CPRP, is a Recreation Coordinator and joined NEDSRA in 1998. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. Carrie completed her internship at WSSRA and then worked at SRJC, prior to joining the NEDSRA team. Carrie’s responsibilities include youth-at-risk, seniors and adults with a physical disability or visual impairment. Carrie’s hobbies include playing softball and riding her motorcycle.

Maggie Goode has been a Recreation Coordinator since 2007. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Arts from Regis University in Denver, Colorado and went on to earn her Master’s degree in Art Therapy from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee. Maggie coordinates NEDSRA’s cultural arts. programs, school programs, TREC (Transition-Aged Recreation Experiences & Community) and the Loss Prevention/Safety Committee.

Sean Tovey, CTRS, CPRP is a Recreation Coordinator in charge of Special Olympics and manages the. NEDSRA fleet of vehicles. Sean graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in psychology and then earned his Master’s degree in. therapeutic recreation from Southern Illinois University. After completing an internship at NEDSRA, Sean was hired at M-NASR. Sean returned to NEDSRA in 2012 and continues to make his mark on this agency and the profession.

Colleen Cline joined the NEDSRA team as a Recreation Coordinator in August, 2013. Colleen earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Trinity Christian College. She has over a decade of experience working with children with varying abilities including individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as individuals with physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities and autism. Colleen is passionate about providing a valuable recreation experience to anyone who wants it!

Sue Martellotta is the Administrative Services Manager, with many years of. experience in finance and human resources. Prior to joining the NEDSRA front office team in. 2008, Sue worked as an Assistant Project Manager of Government Affairs and in the fund development department for Marklund Children’s Home.

Nora Sandoval began working at NEDSRA. as the Registrar in 2011. She is fluent in English. and Spanish, and has been invaluable with outreach efforts to the. Hispanic community. Nora is also a former International Ballroom competitor and champion, and enjoys teaching dance. classes to NEDSRA participants.

Sean Fritsch began his involvement with. NEDSRA in 2007. and recently joined the NEDSRA full-time Team in. October, 2015. Sean graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a degree in theatre and performing arts. He furthered his education at the Second City Training Center in. Chicago where he studied comedy writing and improvisation. Sean’s favorite program is the Theater Troupe and he looks forward to expanding performing art opportunities at NEDSRA.

Cat Marron rejoined the NEDSRA team in. 2013, after working as a legal assistant/secretary for more than 17 years. She serves as the recording secretary for the Board of Trustees and brings strong organizational and planning skills, along with her attention to details to support the front office. Cat enjoys interacting with NEDSRA's participants and volunteering at programs.

Jeff Grams has worked at NEDSRA since 1989. Jeff is the custodian, and also a NEDSRA participant. Whether Jeff is on the basketball court, the softball field, the dance floor, or NEDSRA van, he always has a smile on his face.

Jason Stubbeman coordinates Synergy Adaptive Athletics. Jason has a strong history of experience in adaptive athletics from his past work at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) Sports Program, where he oversaw military sports, archery, boccia and rock climbing. Prior to RIC, Jason worked for NWSRA as a Leisure Education and Volunteer Coordinator.

Megan Siebert, CTRS earned her degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Illinois State University in May 2016. She has been with NEDSRA since November, 2016. She completed her internship at Northern Will County Special Recreation Association and then stayed on working their Adult Day Program and filling in as a Program Coordinator.

Jamie Elam, CTRS joined the NEDSRA team in January, 2017, as the Recreation Coordinator-Youth and Day Camps. Jamie earned her Master of Science in Therapeutic Recreation from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in. December, 2016. In addition, she has her Bachelors in Athletic Training from Northern Michigan University. Jamie has a variety of work experiences that make her a great asset to the recreation department. She completed her internship at Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association in Crystal Lake. Jamie has also worked at several summer camps with individuals with disabilities, at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and at the Illinois Masonic Children’s Home.
