NEDSRA COVID Guidelines Update

Good Afternoon Families and Friends,

The following updates to masking and distancing guidelines have been made based on the changes from the State of Illinois. Please note, an individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose of Moderna or Pfizer, or two weeks after the single dose of Johnson and Johnson. Fully vaccinated individuals that voluntarily provide proof of vaccination can follow the updated guidelines.

Changes to the guidelines and eligibility requirements may lead to more program openings. A majority of NEDSRA programs are at capacity based on available staff and facility space. If a program is full, a waitlist will be created. Waitlisted registrations will be processed in the order received. We ask for your patience throughout the process

Face Coverings Required for Everyone When:

1. On a NEDSRA bus
2. In a park district, school, or village facility that requires masking
3. At a fieldtrip location or community setting that requires masking
4. Directed by Special Olympics based on sport
5. NEDSRA staff deem necessary

Fully Vaccinated Individuals 12+ Years Old:

1. Wearing a mask is recommended
2. Physical distancing is recommended

Not Fully Vaccinated or 2-11 Years Old:

1. When indoors must wear a mask and physically distance
2. When outdoors and unable to physically distance must wear a mask
3. Must be independent with personal care (toileting, eating, changing)

Vaccination Verification:

Voluntary. Confirmed through documentation presented at the NEDSRA office or submitted by email to nedsra@nedsra.org

Health and Safety Practices:

• Cleaning and disinfecting pursuant to state and local guidelines.
• Making facemasks available to patrons and employees.
• Requiring regular handwashing and providing hand sanitizer to patrons and employees at each facility.
• Requiring vaccinated and unvaccinated employees and patrons to stay home if they have COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19.
• Contact tracing when an employee or patron is diagnosed with COVID-19.
• Requiring employees and participants to quarantine following close contact with a person with COVID-19 based on revised state and local guidelines.
• Following program capacity requirements.
• Continually updating COVID-19 policies and practices based on updated guidance from state and local entities.
